When you arrive in Tbilisi, you will be greeted with a warm welcome and have a relaxing day to get ready for the experiences that lie ahead on this painstakingly prepared tour. Travel the breathtaking Georgian Military Highway to discover historic strongholds and breathtaking views of Kazbegi. Discover the historic capital of Georgia, Mtskheta, and the ethereal, rock-hewn village of Uplistsikhe. The tour ends in the stunning Kakheti area, where you may explore the charming town of Sighnaghi and immerse yourself in Georgia's renowned winemaking history.
Upon your arrival at Tbilisi International Airport, our representative will greet you after you have collected your luggage and reached the Arrivals section. They will be holding a board with your name and our company logo for easy identification. You will be escorted to a comfortable vehicle and driven to your hotel in Tbilisi. Check-in to your room and take some time to rest and recover from your journey. This day is reserved for relaxation, allowing you to acclimate to the new environment and build up energy for the exciting adventures that lie ahead. You can explore the nearby area at your leisure, dine at a local restaurant, or simply unwind at the hotel.
Start your day with a hearty breakfast before meeting your driver and guide in the hotel lobby at 10:00 a.m. Today’s tour will introduce you to the main attractions of Tbilisi, along with some lesser-known gems. Your first stop is the Metekhi Church, which offers a picturesque view of the Mtkvari River and the old town. You will also see the statue of Tbilisi's legendary founder, King Vakhtang Gorgasali. From there, cross the Peace Bridge, a modern architectural marvel, and take a leisurely stroll through Rike Park.
Next, you will take a cable car ride from Rike Park to Narikala Fortress, one of the oldest fortresses in Georgia, providing stunning panoramic views of the city. Don’t miss the impressive statue of Mother Georgia overlooking the city from this vantage point. As you descend, explore the Sulphur Baths district, known for its historic bathhouses and the only mosque in Tbilisi. Wander through Meidan Square, an area filled with charming cafés, wine-tasting establishments, and souvenir shops, where you can step back in time and soak up the atmosphere of the old city.
1:00 p.m.: Enjoy a traditional Georgian lunch at a local restaurant.
2:00 p.m.: Visit Mtatsminda Park, a popular amusement park offering a funicular ride and breathtaking views of Tbilisi.
5:00 p.m.: Explore the Chronicles of Georgia, a monumental sculpture located on a hill overlooking the Tbilisi Sea.
6:00 p.m.: Return to your hotel for a restful evening.
Meet your driver and guide in the hotel lobby at 9:00 a.m. and embark on a journey north along the Georgian Military Highway towards the Russian border. This route is renowned for its stunning landscapes and historical sites.
10:30 a.m.: Your first stop is the Jhinvali Water Reservoir, an artificial lake created during the Soviet era. Spend about 20 minutes here, enjoying the serene views and taking photos.
11:00 a.m.: Continue to the Ananuri complex, a castle and church ensemble from the 16th and 17th centuries. The complex, which overlooks the Jhinvali Reservoir, includes two churches with intricate decorations symbolizing Georgian culture. Spend about 40 minutes exploring the site.
11:30 a.m.: Proceed to the confluence of two mountain streams, known for their distinct colors that remain separate even after merging. You will also have a chance to taste the mineral-rich waters of Mleta’s mountain springs.
1:00 p.m.: Arrive in Gudauri, a popular ski resort. Take a short break here before heading to the Cross Pass.
2:00 p.m.: Reach Kazbegi (Stepantsminda) and switch to a 4WD vehicle to ascend to Gergeti Holy Trinity Church. Located at an altitude of 2170 meters, the church offers breathtaking views of Mt. Kazbegi.
4:00 p.m.: Return to Tbilisi, concluding the tour at 6:00 p.m.
Meet your driver and guide in the hotel lobby at 9:00 a.m. and set out to explore some of Georgia's most significant historical sites.
10:30 a.m.: Arrive at Uplistsikhe, an ancient rock-hewn village that dates back to the first millennium BC. This site, carved into the rocky left bank of the Mtkvari River, features ancient structures from the Early Iron Age and Late Middle Ages. Explore the numerous caves, tunnels, and old man-made holes that once served various purposes, including animal sacrifices in pagan times. Uplistsikhe was a major center during the Hellenistic period but declined after Christianity became the official religion in the 4th century. Despite damage from earthquakes, many caves still retain their historic design, and the site has been considered for UNESCO World Heritage status since 2007.
12:30 p.m.: Transfer to Mtskheta, Georgia's ancient capital.
1:30 p.m.: Visit Jvari Monastery, a 6th-7th century church perched on a cliff overlooking the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers. This site offers stunning views and is a superb example of medieval Georgian architecture.
2:30 p.m.: Continue to Svetitskhoveli Cathedral in Mtskheta, constructed between 1010 and 1029. This UNESCO World Heritage site is one of Georgia's most revered religious structures. According to legend, the first Georgian church was built here by Saint Nino in the 4th century. Spend about an hour exploring the cathedral and its surroundings.
4:40 p.m.: Return to Tbilisi, concluding the tour at 5:00 p.m.
Meet your driver and guide in the hotel lobby at 9:00 a.m. for a day trip to the picturesque Kakheti region, renowned for its wine production.
10:00 a.m.: Visit a winery in Paterdzeuli to learn about traditional Georgian winemaking techniques and sample some local wines.
12:30 p.m.: Spend around 40 minutes at the Bodbe Monastery complex, a significant religious site and the resting place of St. Nino, who brought Christianity to Georgia in the 4th century. The monastery, which has been a nunnery since 1889, is set in beautiful surroundings and offers peaceful gardens for reflection.
1:20 p.m.: Arrive in Sighnaghi, often referred to as the "City of Love" and "Royal Town." This charming town, surrounded by 23 towers and ancient defensive walls, was once a key stop on the Great Silk Road. Enjoy lunch here and spend about two hours exploring the town, with its cobblestone streets, colorful houses, and stunning views of the Alazani Valley.
4:00 p.m.: Return to Tbilisi, concluding the tour at 6:00 p.m.
After enjoying breakfast at your hotel, check out by 12:00 p.m., depending on your flight schedule. You have free time to explore the city, shop for souvenirs, or relax. Your luggage can be stored at the hotel if needed. Three hours before your departure flight, your driver will pick you up from the hotel lobby, where you can collect your bags and be driven to the airport for your onward journey.
