Lugano
Lugano is the largest town of Ticino region. It lies on the northern side of the Lake Lugano. It is very popular destination among tourists specially during Spring; when the Camellias are in bloom.
Monte Bré
Take funicular rail from the Lugano to Monte Bré, the scenic mountain above the lake basin. Stop on the summit for a while and then descend down to Lugano vis Bré Village. This village has maintained its original character of country settlement.
San Salvatore
Take Funicular rail from Lugano Paradise to Monte San Salvatore. This mountain boasts 360˚ views over the lake and environs, far south and to the high Alps in the west. A popular walk leads down through the beautifully situated Carona to Lake Lugano at Morcote.
Swissminiatur
Swissminiature is Switzerland on a smaller scale. There are 128 models of houses, castles amd monuments in the open air. The detailed and authentic models include well known sites such as the Heidi Village, the castles of Burgdorf and Chillon and many more.
Lake Lugano Cruises
The beautiful blue lake surrounded by green mountains offers very attractive scenic boat trips. The remarkably shaped lake offers different views around every corner. About 2/3 Swiss territory the rest in Italian region. The longest non circular boat ride i.e about 1 hr 30 mins is from Lugano via Porto Cersio ( Italy) to Ponte Tresa. A train will take you back to Lugano in 30 Minutes. You can walk from the boat dock to the train station in 4 minutes.
Gandria
Clinging close to the steep slope of the excursion mountain, Monte Brè, surrounded by chestnut forests and adjacent to the waters of Lake Lugano, Gandria is a town with a special ambience. It has angular lanes, steep staircases, courtyards with walls and arcades. The town is a car-free zone,and the original character of many buildings in this town, such as the chapel of San Rocco, which dates back to the year 1645, has been preserved.
